To assist, the Group Scout Leader and Exec to manage and support the Scout Group’s safety policy. To ensure relevant and practical risk assessments are written for all events and risks are successfully recorded and managed.
The Person
The Group Safety Officer will ideally have experience of safety management however training will be available for the enthusiastic and committed individual who undertakes this role
The Skills Profile
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Build, maintain and facilitate effective working relationships with a wide range of people
- Ability to spot and act on risks
- Construct and implement a Group wide Safety plan
- Enable others to identify issues, risks and improvements in a non confrontational way to enhance the safety of the Group and it’s members.
The Training
Mandatory – Getting Started (5 Months)
Scouting has a core set of training that you will need to undertake:
- Module 1 – Essential Information
- General Data Protection Regulations
- Safety
- Safeguarding
- Trustee Induction, whilst you may not be Group Trustee (conflict of interest) it’s useful to complete this training as part of your role
- Personal Learning Plan
Tools for the Role
Your role will require you to use the following software packages, if you have no experience in those packages, we will support you in gaining those skills:
- Online Scout Manager (Youth Management Software)
- ScoutsRam
- Office365 (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel)
